Interesting study that contradicts the usual "ramp shaming" that goes on here. This is one of the only ongoing studies I can find that's actually testing ramp harvesting/reproduction in a healthy environment and in *real time,* not using predictive models. One unexpected result from this study... He transplanted 85 bulbs in 2007, that grew to a patch of 2,851 by 2022. A 33 fold increase in 15 years!

He's not saying, "go ahead, harvest all you want!" Of course that would be unsustainable. He's just proving that there are misconceptions about ramp harvesting that are extremely overstated and not based on any real research or practice.

Almost ALL of the green ground cover you see are ramps! Easily over a football field size patch, dense as hell. EDIT: but also, I don't know where the patch ends, it could be much larger than that.

I'm in central NY, they're super common here, I see them growing on every trail I hike, but I've never seen such a huge patch! I *did* take some with the bulbs 😬 ... I know that's frowned upon, but I don't think a group of 10 people could even make a dent in this field, it was unreal.

These ones are hot! Almost like radishes. Made 2 kinds of pickles, pesto, and compound butter :)
