Resources to motivate a headstrong 7yo to learn spanish
I need resources for my 7 year old who does NOT want to learn spanish. He's really smart. He also refused to be taught to learn to read (English) and taught himself to read after I told him it was a secret and turned on subtitles on his shows.
I tried to trick him in a similar way, but it didn't work. He refuses to learn and gets angry whenever I speak to him in spanish. I wish I could motivate him to want to learn. He won't watch anything that he says is for babies, like pocoyo.
I need him to learn spanish because all of his dad's family speaks spanish. I can't let him be a no sabo kid.
We are actually currently in a Spanish speaking country, and he's in a local school, but I'm worried he'll fall behind because of his bad attitude. The teacher says that I should try to improve his spanish at home.
Also, I can't tell how much he is picking up because he recently told me that he pretends that he doesn't know any spanish when I try to teach him because he doesn't want to do it. So maybe he's picking up more than I thought. He can just be so obstinate sometimes, and it's frustrating. Any advice?
