For almost 9yrs, I suffered with horrible periods, cramps, pain, bleeding, digestive issues, etc. When I first started to experience pain, my doctor at the time, could not find a reason. My labs were normal except my prolactin levels. I've never been pregnant before so that was weird. I've been anemic for as long as I can remember. I've switched doctors 5 times and nobody could see find what was wrong with me.
Fast forward to 2023, I find an Obgyn office that specializes in endometriosis and other related symptoms. Finally, a doctor's office listened and didn't just put me on birth control. They found 1 2-3cm fibroid. Yay. I'm getting answers. I'm also diagnosed with insulin resistant PCOS with some endometriosis. Ok cool. We start a hormone treatment to help.
Now I'm not gonna lie, it did help. I lost 30lbs, my periods were manageable, and I'm ovulating again for the first time in YEARS. I had a HSG exam done to see condition of uterus and found a lot of scar tissue. 6 months later, BOOM, I become pregnant with my son. Unfortunately my fibroid turned into 4 and my son pushed through my cervix at 25w6d and he was born 3 months early.
During the c-section, my doctor had to remove a fibroid and found a larger one behind my uterus. It never showed on any scans. This fibroid was assumed to be the cause of my issues along with the one removed. Life goes on and for a while my pain damn near disappears for 4 months. The best for months of my life until it returns and with a vengeance.
I finally was approved for surgery to remove all remaining fibroids. I had an open myomectomy last week on April 28. I'm pretty you all are wondering why I keep mentioning fibroids. I did have more fibroids but not as many as we thought. During surgery they get to large mass and to her surprise and realization, it was adenomyosis. She tried to remove it all but it would have left a hole in my uterus which would have lead to a hysterectomy. She explained how all of my symptoms made sense and how she could that with the size, the pain must've been unbearable.
I'm so thankful to her and her team. To be believed and finally get answers to my problem. I know there's a chance of it growing back, along with fibroids, but I'm looking forward to what life may hold once I'm healed. I know sometime in the future, I will go for the hysterectomy. I will attach photos. Only 3 fibroids were removed and they were small compared to the amount of adenomyosis that was cut out. The
