Hello there,
Since a lot of EU governments are looking into getting ride of US software, I feel like I have to look into alternatives to make the jump from Windows to something less US corporate and more open source. I already made the jump from Outlook to an already better mail client (em Client) and I'm already working on my alternative for OneDrive since my office subscription will end soon.
Now that I'm looking into picking the right Linux, I wanted to ask you guys if Mint is a good choice or if I should look for something else.
I currently have a PC with AMD CPU and a NVIDIA RTX 2080TI as GPU. I also have a gaming laptop (ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502IV-HN055T) which I could use for initial testing.
About what I usually do, I mostly play games and I think Steam got me covered with their client and engines which should be able to run any game. I sometimes also have spurts of 3D Modeling with Blender and some Video Editing where I used DaVinci Resolve so far.
I do have experience with Ubuntu, Debian, Raspbian, Fedora, Manjaro and some other distros. Partially from my time at school, work in IT and from my own exploring in the past. But it usually never went past using it for browsing and specific projects but now I'm looking into my next and hopefully forever OS. I know there are different GUI bundles that can be installed like Plasma, Gnu, etc. so I know that I can just switch to another interface if the default isn't for me.
So what do you guys think? Should I give it a try or should I try another distro?
