Anybody have experience with Sporting City North (or any of the Sporting KC affiliated clubs)? Looking for any insights on club culture, how well they do player development, etc. Understand it will vary a lot by coach, but just looking to get a general feel. Thanks!

Looking for advice/experiences from those who have made the switch from a small club to a large club - was it worth it(in your experience)? Were there any challenges you didn't anticipate?

Background: Son plays U10 for a small local club. He's one of the stronger players in his club's age bracket - I'd say top 5 of about 20 kids across two teams. Area is fairly transient, so talent level can be hit or miss. His club usually plays in lower subdivisions of the league (currently subdivision 11 out of 13). Due to his grade level & age he can play U10 again next year, but his coach has suggested he play up with the U11 team. We'd prefer to keep him in U10, but are worried the other U10 eligible stronger players in his club will play U11, leaving the U10 roster questionable.

We're considering moving to a large club in the area that has better facilities, a larger group of strong players, and (we anticipate) better coaching that will challenge him more. The large club currently has 4 U10 teams (subdivisions 1,8,10,13 in the league). We're going through the pre-tryout & tryout process and anticipate he'll make the team and be rostered one of the lower U10 teams, at least initially. Wondering if it's worth the switch & curious about the collective experience of those who have made a similar change.
