Hello!

First time poster here but seasoned lurker since we got our Black English Lab 2 months ago. She is 17 weeks old and doing very well! I have never owned a dog before but have always LOVED dogs. I take the responsibility very seriously and did my research (and then some) to make sure I was fully prepared while still knowing that there would be things I just have to experience first hand.

My question is a little more difficult to answer I feel. I am a perfectionist by nature and my puppy tests the work I’ve done to contain that part of myself. I have gotten frustrated and lost my cool which I know is normal when owning a puppy since she is so young and rambunctious, but she has also proven to me that she capable of SO MUCH. I also have absolutely no context for how much the intense work we’re putting in will pay off because I’ve never done this before.

In your opinion, where is the line between the expectations you have for a puppy’s behavior/training and accepting the fact that they’re “just being a puppy”?
