IIM season is here. And so is the bullshit.

Here are 3 things people will tell you. Do not trust them.

Bullshit #1: “I woke up half asleep and got into IIMA”

People will make you feel that clearing CAT and getting in is a piece of cake.

It is not.

Everyone prepares whether right before the exam or much before. But they always prepare to succeed. Do not let anyone gaslight your effort.

Bullshit #2: “The best comes to those with the highest percentile”

Absolutely not.

Even 100 percentilers can struggle inside the college. CAT is not equal to how two years look inside the institute. The success metrics are completely different.

Bullshit #3: “MBA is a waste of time. You can get better growth without it”

2 years has an opportunity cost. True.

But in India, a Tier 1 MBA is still one of the fastest ways to change career tracks and move into a higher pay category. You get a stipend of 2-3 lakhs during internship which is what many people earned as an annual salary before MBA.

That is not a waste.
