My lease ends in late August, but I just found out that there will not be an option to renew this year as my landlord will be selling the property. I've lived here for 3 years now so I'm a bit preemptively anxious about finding a new place in this current market.
I've read online that you can only really start looking ~30 days in advance, and even then it's just pretty much a 2-week period that really matters. However, I just stumbled upon a place listed now for August 1st move-in. So I'm wondering, is it futile to keep looking at current listings this far in advance, or is it just going to be a more difficult search for units with later move-ins? And would it be similarly futile to contact units I like with no availability right now to see if they anticipate having a place go up for rent within the timeframe I'm looking for?
