I got VIP tickets for the LA show at The Novo. When I bought my tickets, mid-December, there weren’t any add on options available at the time. I got my tix straight from Ticketmaster (not resale). There were 3 kinds of tickets available: GA, balcony seats, and VIP. Balcony seats were about $60, VIP was double that, I paid $120 each.
I assumed, and even asked on here, that our VIP tickets included the VIP package. From what others experienced that was the case.
Imagine my surprise when we showed up last weekend to learn the VIP package at our show was a separate item; one that I guess was already sold out when I bought my tix in Dec (they probably didn’t sell many for our show because most in LA went to entertainment studio heads; that’s always the case for all LA shows). I was sooo upset. VIP seating at the novo isn’t that great. We were literally just 2 rows ahead of the front row regular balcony seats. We were in balcony 1, stage right, and didn’t have a full view of the stage (we couldn’t see any part of the huge Good Kid logo on the back wall) and the front of the stage was semi obstructed by the railings in front of us; PLUS we had to walk even further than everyone to get to bathrooms, concessions, and merch. It was so ridiculous.
So if you have VIP tickets and are unsure contact Ticketmaster to find out for sure. I found in very fine print that it varies based on venue. One guy I’d spoken to at the show who had seen them with VIP at 2 other shows on this tour confirmed he got his VIP seats for the same price I paid and they included the whole VIP package. He almost got VIP tix for this show too and was so glad he didn’t when I told him.
So that was a huge bummer. But waiting in line and getting to talk with all the Good Kid fans really made up for it. I was there cause my son loves them. I only started listening to them after I got our tix. For most of my favorite bands it’s the fandom that makes me such a die hard fan, not just the music. All of you guys definitely made me a good kid (and INOHA) fan for life. So thanks for being the upside!!
TL;DR: My “VIP” tix weren’t VIP, so you might want to check yours cause it depends on the venue. But hanging with the fans in line made me fall in love with the fandom and band. So thanks for that!
