Writers block - The Unwritten Scripture. An original piece by me.
Hello, this is my first post on this sub and I would be happy for anyone to give feedback. Any is accepted TY.
I sit on the balcony, my hands paused above my open laptop on the coffee table I’m sat at. My mind draws blank and I look towards the open notebook to my left. The candle behind it casting a soft orange glow onto the page face up. The half empty page covered by sprawling yet legible chicken scratch. There are things on the page that I have left out, things that I mean to keep, things that I have yet to write, and things that I have already written.
I look over the balcony onto the city streets below.
When the sun shines, the concrete paths are filled with people walking. A daily commute, a shopping trip, or a daily stroll; it doesn’t matter. The roads would be packed with cars that traverse the bitumen. But at night the streets and roads are empty. There is more silence outside than in my own apartment.
I look at what I’ve written so far, 4287 words, I’m two chapters in and I have stopped. I think to myself, what should I start? The next paragraph with, should be a sentence, dialogue, a scenic description of the area that my characters currently reside?
My mind still draws a blank. Is this going to be good enough for the eyes and ears of those who have read my novels previous? To put it simply, I don’t know, but that shouldn’t be my main concern at the moment.
Suddenly, after a few minutes of thinking, something pops into my head, an idea, a plot point, one that could come up later. All I need to do is find a way to put that onto the document.
I let out a sigh of relief, look to the notebook and add it to the mess.
