How do I work with line breaks?
So, I've been reading fanfiction for a long time. I've written some too. But it's been a while since I've posted anything, and there's this thing I've been noticing a lot in fan-fictions, which are the breaks between lines. In fanfiction, I feel like there are often a lot more than in published novels, or short stories for that sake. I guess I have sort of two questions regarding this;
Should I, too, add more paragraphs than I usually would, or should I stick to long paragraphs? I don't know if there's some unsaid etiquette/rules about it, if it's just up to the writer, or if it's something the audience prefers.
A bit of an extension of the first question, but why? I'm actually kind of curious. Why do so many fan-fictions have so many line breaks?
(Also, I'm not sure if line breaks are the right words for it, but I don't know what they are actually called in english)
