Hi everyone, for the past few months, I’ve been working on a tool to help answer the question many of us get asked: “So what can you see?”
I made this iPhone app, See My Eyes to help show others how I experience the world with RP. A lot of the time, it’s hard to explain visual loss in a way people truly understand just by describing it, or by making binoculars with your hands to try to show tunnel vision.
The app uses your camera to simulate different vision conditions in real time, including Retinitis Pigmentosa, Glaucoma, AMD, and many others. I made it to help with awareness, empathy, and education, but also to make everyday conversations a little easier.
This project is personal to me, and I’d really value feedback from this community.
I’d love to know what would make it more useful, more realistic, or more meaningful for people with low vision and for the people around them.
