Dangai Ichigo was never suppressed; he is essentially a Bankai HoS equivalen minus the abilities which he got after he completed the "Blade is Me". Fused Tensa Zangetsu is Ichigo's core power in and of itself at its maximum AKA a representation of Bankai HoS.

The whole point behind the mugetsu test was Zangetsu gifting Ichigo transcendence and letting him use every last drop of his power in order to defeat Aizen. After Ichigo uses mugetsu, he loses his spiritual powers because there is no reserved gas to fill up the tank. The whole reason zangetsu cries is because from his perspective, this is his final time with Ichigo.

The actual difference in raw power comes Kirio's food which enhances one's konapku and thus reiatsu, the irasuzando training (which was done to test if he can be a lychpin, it also doesnt mean true shikai is reio level rather ichigo in and of himself is) and Ichigo's soul in general matured over the 2 years.

Aizen becomes a being who rivals SK level at 4th fusion (and thus truly achieving transcendence) and surpassing it by 5th, which Ichigo was above. Yhwach requires time in absorbing Reio (the power Aizen surpassed, to clarify, SK yhwach is above aizen) as his own power is less than that of truly transcendent beings; it is also stated that SK Yhwach surpasses the almighty even yet Shikai Ichigo was still below that Yhwach.

Tldr; Dangai low diffs at worst as of cour 3.​
