Over the course of FGO, we have multiple instances about memories being important and writers often pushes that theme, not one or twice, but multiple times.
Higashide often did that with his characters and a clear example of that is Jalter, principally in her 2nd interlude which she hopes Fujimaru reminds how much of a beautiful and strong girl she was. And recently, with Charlotte in Summer 6, which there is a bonus section which she hopes Fujimaru always remember the good memories they have with the Servants.
Sakurai also have Skadi remembering the events of Lostbelt 2 and also highlights how bittersweet is that Napoleon forgot about Ophelia since he is a different incarnation and how things would be different if he had sided with them. What is beautifull, is that despite having painful memories, Skadi decides eventually come with terms with it and move forward.
Makoto Sanda through case files, also highlight the importance of memories, principally when Mnemosyne erased most of Fujimaru's memories and there is a moment that Reines tries to reach Fujimaru and talk how sad is for someone to be stripped of someone as important as their memories.
We also have Narita with the recent FSF collab, who often highlights how memories are important and even Fujimaru states in the collab that there are things that shouldn't be forgotten.
etc
In counterpoint, Nasu utilizes memory erasure and amnesia really often.
In Seraph, nobody remembers what happened to it except for BB.
In LB6, we have Fujimaru getting amnesiac, Mash getting amnesiac, Morgan forgetting about Mash etc.
In LB7, we have Camazotz purposefully chosing to not remember stuff, U-Olga being amnesiac, Nitocris sacrificing herself and by doing that, losing all the memories she had ever since Camelot etc
In OC3, we have Nasu's decision that people will forgot about Moon Dubai except for BB and Ereshkigal, which really don't do anything and apparently, they will remember OC3 again in the future (and makes me wonder why Nasu made them forget if they will just remember eventually)
And of course, Part 2 Finale and again, another decision to literally have all characters forget everything, except Daybit that for some reason, will remember bits of their journey. Which basically goes against majority and multiple themes of how memories are important and how terrible is to forgot them. I just posted a few above. There are multiple and in multiple events and stories.
I understand what Nasu wanted to do but still really dumb because, In the end, what exactly will matter if the characters will just forgot all the lessons, all the bonds, everything and go back to their lives normally as if nothing mattered?
What I mean, is that apparently, other writers have a vision about what they wanted for FGO vs What Nasu wanted for FGO, and this often clashed multiple times.
From my pov, as I posted above, writers highlighted how important memories are and how it's important to not forget, even if it causes suffering, while Nasu, many times, get characters to forgot about stuff and even plenty of these times, feel completely random and just for add unnecessary drama, to the point of being repetitive.
It's clear that there many times, writers did not agreed with some of Nasu's visions about how he wanted the plot to go. An example of that is the fate of the Avengers, in how Nasu wanted to axe them, just like how he did with Musashi, but Sakurai begged him to not do it and now, they are just simply "Link Lost."
As I pointed in my last post, Nasu 100% sure knew that people would not be fond of the finale, which explains the fast timing of Aftertime. And I do think this new arc is more of the other writers wanting to change how things were handled.
