How to train to reduce the risk of tripping and falling during running?

I’m a novice runner and have been training on and off for the last 2 years. Occasionally, when my leg swings forward, the bottom of my foot catches or scrapes the ground, making a dragging sound. I’ve had several near-falls and 2 actual falls with injuries, including the one shown in the picture.

I’m wondering if this could be related to mild foot drop especially since my foot seems to catch on small crevices or uneven parts of the road.

What are some ways to train or strengthen this to help prevent falls while running?
