Looking for advice on cameras, equipment, procedures. I have tight constraints.
Hey all! I'm looking at doing a pretty big project in the near future, but I need some advice. Without giving too much of the game away, I need some advice on what I planned to do, how best to execute, and what camera options I can go with, with an emphasis on cheap.
So, my plan is to make a splat of a reasonably large area. But the crux of the issue is two-fold.
I have a very very tight window to get the footage capture done.
I have to offload the task of capturing the video to someone else.
I get one shot at this. Exactly one. A one hour window to get it done. If it fails, I have to wait a whole extra year to try again. Now, I can do test runs, attempts, mess with the tech ahead of time to know what I am dealing with. But in the end, I need to put it in someone else's hands, who hasn't had the practice and the like.
So, the challenges:
As mentioned. Time. I have an hour or so to do this. I might be able to get 15-30 extra potentially. But that's it. And I have to offload the task because I have other things I need to be doing in that window.
The area is Mostly dark, with a lotta flashing lights. I cannot stop the flashing of screens to make this happen. So I need a camera that can accomidate that. I know the footage will have the constantly changing images to contend with, so I need to figure out how to factor that in. (Grats if you have already figured out what I want to do)
I cannot use a drone.
I need to somehow get a decent height of capture as well. Above, and below. Let's say.... 10 feet.
My thought: Get a buncha pre-paid smartphones of the same type from like Walmart or something. And make a u-shaped rig with the cameras smattered about, that can just be rolled along the whole space. It'd make sure the person capturing isn't in the frame. It'd make ease of operation good. And with multiple cameras it'd make for redundancy in case something messes up.
Another option was Two 360 cameras on a long pole on either end. But that has its own can of worms.
Anyone got some advice? Will answer as candidly as I can, and as coy as I have to.
