Hi everyone. New here. I hope someone can guide me with the issue that I have.
I just bought a tube amp (Monoprice stage right 15w tube amp) two days ago and it’s making some kind of artifact and hissing when I turn up the volume.
I know that when turning up the volume you can get some hissing noise or interference noise specially if your electrical outlet is not properly grounded or another electronic is causing some electrical interference but I have never heard the other artifactish type of sound when turning up the volume on a solid state amp. So…
Is this something that tube amps do when turning up te volume, is this amp defective or the tube amps are damaged and need to be replaced?
The amp makes that sound when guitar is plugged in and when there‘s nothing plugged.
I already change the amp to a different locations just to check if it was the electrical outlet without luck (that artifact noise keeps happening.
edit: also forgot to mention that the amp makes a crackling noise after I turn on the amp for a couple seconds (when tubes are warming up) so I don’t know if this is normal due to tubes warming up or is a sign that something it’s failing ?
On the video I did not have anything plugged in just to test it out.
Thanks to everybody.
