Ever wondered where your tax money goes?
Every payday, a chunk of money disappears into PAYE. Most of us have a vague idea that the government uses it to pay for stuff. But it’s pretty hard to visualize what your taxes actually look like. After struggling to figure out all the numbers in the Government spreadsheets. I decided to build taxed.co.nz so that it is easier to look at where tax money goes.
What it does:
By entering your salary (Annual, Monthly, or Weekly). It spits out a "receipt" breaking down your PAYE across health, education, welfare, debt interest, etc.
The math is based on the 2024/25 Crown accounts (HYEFU 2025) and official IRD tax brackets.
