I know my local shop does 500 point games. I have never played before. The rules don't stick in my head regardless of how many videos I watch, and frankly I won't understand most of the game until I'm playing in person. I'll have a friend to help me on the day, but I am mostly making a list based on vibes.
I went with Necrons cause their lore is what got me hooked on 40k, and I really like the C'tan. Although I heard that bringing them to a 500 point game is not cool. I'm new to Warhammer, but I'm a veteran at tactical RPGs. I tend to be comfortable with strategies that involve a big range for area control, or strong burst damage to eliminate key targets early.

I have been considering the Phasal subjugator enhancement and the canoptek reanimator. I'm open to getting more units, but please explain the synergies and whatnot like if I was 5.
