Last June, I really got into my feels about going to Pride and idly thought 'I should do a Persian tile in rainbow colors'. I ended up reaching out to a friend who is my state's Stonewall Democrats' chairperson and asked if they'd want to raffle off a blanket and ended up committing myself to the project that has taken up the last few months of my life.
Each tile is based off a different pride flag. I tried to pick flags that usually aren't added to things like this along with ones whose color schemed I enjoyed and were unique and interesting. My personal favorite is the Two Spirit flag, I was so hyped when I realized I could make the hoop and two feathers. For the granny squares, I ended up going with black and white with rainbow accent colors because otherwise, it would be somehow even busier. It is currently hung up at my church and will go to be auctioned off at the end of the month.
The pattern is the Persian Tiles pattern by Janie Crow, which I seriously recommend to anyone interested. This blanket is my third crochet project and my first project was a Persian Tiles blanket in the original colors. If I can figure it out, so can you! The border was based off of the Persian Tiles Extension by Tracy Fear, though to a certain point, I got too confused and started freestyling. I used my beloved Clover 4 and 3.5 hooks with Stylecraft DK yarn in so, so, so many different colors. It was kind of a pain to get the yarn, I even ended up with a scare with customs about it, but the yarn is so good for acrylic yarn and tough as all get out. I made many mistakes making this blanket but all things can be done through either spite or hubris.
