Can anybody help me ID this lost 00's song
Trying to find info on a jazzy neosoul-esque slow jam I taped off WGCI Chicago, in spring of 2000.
I caught maybe half of it, never heard the song played again, and I have since lost the tape. (However, I listened to it over and over before losing it, so if people want, I can try to sing and play the bits I remember on keyboard and upload that!)
It may have been an unsigned artist or unpublished/unofficial release, because I cannot find ANY info when I search the lyrics that I can recall.
It’s a slow jam, ~72 bpm, by a male high tenor who sounds like Stokely (Mint Condition), Musiq Soulchild, Rahsaan Patterson. Although I can't remember the exact name it was definitely NOT any of the above. The DJ did say the name and it was something like Lorenzo, Alonzo, Orlando or something close.
The lyrics I can recall are:
Something that’s deep inside of me
Won’t let me be
‘Till you stay the night with me baby
Girl won’t you stay (or Baby please stay)
Girl won’t you stay
Girl won’t you stay
Girl won’t you stay
I’m sayin’ ohh…
Cryin’ ohh
Sayin’ ohh
Cryin’ ohh
[Each “ohh” he is sort of descending the scale]
Girl won’t you stay
Baby please stay
Etc .
During the fade out he gets into some pretty high falsetto notes.
Anybody have any idea?
