I followed the post with the music suggestions for the upcoming golden waltz, and this led me to a related but standalone question.

I'm a former singles skater, now competitive ballroom dancer, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

So, there seem to be multiple different waltzes in ice dance with different step patterns. How can you tell the music pieces apart? Like, how do you know which music fits a certain pattern?

I watched a lot of videos of the old compulsory dances and it all sounds like different Viennese Waltzes to me.

And is there an equivalent to the Slow Waltz?
