Does anyone feel an inescapable melancholy when watching Titanic?

Obviously not for the real passengers and their families affected by the real tragedy; yet, the movie.

Showing Rose’s portraits at the end always got me.

The dolphins jumping just before the ship.

“I changed my mind.”

And I HATE the take that Rose was selfish and didn’t let him “fit on the lifeboat.” He didn’t fit. They showed the literal door sinking below BOTH of their weights. Context clues people.

Rose gave up a wealthy, comfortable life for Jack. Even at the end a Cal looks for her on the Carpathia, and yet, she looks away. She gave up everything to makes ends meat in Cedar Rapids.

Hell, I live about two hours north of cedar rapids, and, well, it is dead haha.

So she didn't want to claim Cal’s diamond for her grandaughter/husband?

Women don't owe any of their possessions.

She kept it to remember Jack. And that is a good enough reason to never speak of it again.

Even if she kept it because it was pretty, who cares. I would have. It's her diamond, and it's her story.

“A woman’s heart is a ocean of secrets.”
