I will preface this by saying my parents are amazing, not narcissists, usually at least pretend to be interested in what I’m interested in.

And yet I feel the need to hide things from them- and other people- just because… because I can, I guess? because what if this time they think I’m cringe? because even if I want to share they’ll probably only pretend to care anyway? idk why I do it, does anybody else?
