Switching to an iPhone actually helped?
Got an iPhone 15 in 2024 as a birthday gift - gave it to mom because my phone at the time was perfectly fine.
Fast forward to this year, my android phone is 6 years old - amazing battery life (2 days even), smooth as butter and no glitches or bugs.
Only problem was my screen time was off the charts - 9 hours + (doomscrolling and porn)
A week back, mom comes in saying that she is fed up with iPhone, asks to exchange. I said sure and took it and, wow.
The Apple experience was horrible. Battery health is 87% - barely lasts a day. Ios 26.4.2 is just a buggy, battery draining mess.
Phone barely lasts 2+ hours. Have to recharge every time. Browsing experience was horrible, porn doesn’t play right, can’t download anything in the background and no apks anymore!
Went on reddit to address the battery issue and found most of the posts white knighting iPhones.
“Just change the battery”, “Just charge it to 80%”, “Don’t charge it overnight.”
Bruh, my mid range android didn’t need this much maintenance. Just charged it to 100% and it was fine.
I don’t give a shit, I am not babying this dumb iPhone.
But something happened. I disabled transparency, motion and all the battery draining shit. I hated this phone so much I stopped using it. Just used it for calls and texts. That would drain like 10%.
I haven’t watched porn or doom-scrolled for a week now. That never happened to me before in my life. It genuinely feels nice. I set my Instagram account to deletion today.
I have no urge to do anything on this phone.
I am kinda happy actually.
If you want a real nosurf experience, get a used second hand base iPhone I suppose.
Thanks for reading and thank you apple
