Hey everyone,
Quick question that I can’t find a clear answer to anywhere.
My Open Work Permit expires August 8th, 2026.
If I submit an H&C application (IMM 5283) before that date — does this trigger Maintained Status that allows me to legally continue working in Canada while the H&C is being processed?
I’ve seen conflicting info online and even AI tools are giving me different answers. The official IRCC guides don’t address this clearly.
Has anyone been through this or knows for sure?
