I've had this garage door opener since the last resident of this house (bought 15 years ago), and recently the garage door has been very choppy to open and sometimes would cease the travel and reset when I closed the door, for example. Without doing any prior research, I started to spray WD40 hoping that a quick grease would fix the issue. Unfortunately for my garage door opener, with the Texas heat and my exhaustion from trying to fix many other things around the house, I sprayed some WD40 on the sprocket (part 1 in the image). After that, the garage door, when triggered, would only travel a couple inches or so before it stops in its tracks and returns to the previous spot. I tried reprogramming the travel using the side panel on the unit, and when I try to program the up or down travel by holding down the arrow, the garage door travels about 3 inches or so before it stops moving completely. I can let off the button and hold it down again, resulting in the garage door slowly inching down, but never long enough to actually program the travel. I am suspecting that part #7 is the issue, assuming that the WD40 somehow dripped down and made itself into the electronics and shorting it. The error code that appears on the side panel consists of 4 up arrow flashes followed by 1 down arrow flash. Is the issue the travel module, and if it is, is it worth buying a replacement part and fixing it? Or would it be a better investment to just replace the entire unit?
