I am not criticizing Dave Roberts but just trying to get an understanding of baseball strategy. Seen the same exact scenario twice now, first time was the first game against the Marlins but Miggy luckily popped out on a bunt and runners stayed put. I would imagine if Miggy’s attempt was successful, Ohtani would have been walked and his double would have never happened and Tucker may not have gotten the walk off. Then it happened again yesterday but this time with opposing results.

I do not know the statistics of the other times this same exact scenario played out. I’m just going by the last 2 in recent memory. And I am talking about Ohtani being the next batter and not just any other player.

Edit: Bonus question. Would more people complain if Dave Roberts does NOT bunt in the same situation but Shohei doesn’t deliver and the game ends in a loss?
