I’d like to try designing a chromatic confocal sensor (I want to start with it as a design exercise in Zemax, and then, if possible, I’d also like to build it). As a light source, I’m thinking of using a white LED and a pinhole (I don’t want to use a fiber because I’d like to better understand how to optimize the LED/pinhole combination). For example, right now it’s not clear to me whether I can place the pinhole directly in front of the LED, or if I first need a collimating lens between the LED and the pinhole. I’d like to aim for a robust system that isn’t strongly dependent on the source. What do you suggest and why?

Someone suggested Fiio K7, but I see also the Fiio K13, which have a integrated PEQ for a small price amount.

What other amplifier do you suggest for the HD660s2 headphones?
