Is the use of "per" correct in the following example?

This is a random example I came up with. In this sentence, I tried to use a synonym for “according to”, and I came across this word while searching for synonyms, but I’m not familiar at all with this term to know whether I’m even using it correctly:
The official documentation should be taken as the reference for how the information is presented per [the rules].
