I live un colombia and the Recyclers take the material from the town in the trash to sell it and work, they use a wheelbarrows to this and is not the More efficient way
I have a project in mind to redesign the wheelbarrows used by Recyclers, with the aim of making them more efficient in terms of the physical effort required. I know there are already options such as motorbikes with space for recycling, but when I speak to some of them, they tell me they cannot afford one of these, as, due to age, lack of money or other issues, they cannot obtain a driving licence (which is necessary), so they continue to use the handcart; however, they also say that there are plans to phase out handcarts altogether, meaning that those unable to access this new option would be left without a means of working.
The idea is to redesign them so that a driving course is not required, making them accessible to those who cannot opt for this vehicle replacement solution, whilst still incorporating improvements that make this work more bearable and dignified.
