Those were good times, it had its ups and downs but I liked a lot of the people there. I wasn’t even on there frequently enough to dislike someone but one hour or so a day there was pretty entertaining.

Still, grinds my gears to this day that I missed all the drama and clocked in when the server was shutting down.

A pity, I don’t think everyone on there went to the same place and the Rising Stars tab, Ebook? tab and the general chat were pretty fun places.

I see it all the time, not with villains, we are meant to hate them then authors try to build up their story with a backstory to make them more impactful then a uno reverse happens when readers or the audience likes them (way too much) instead. The opposite happens for me with main characters and the side cast.

Yes, character growth and all, but still, why should I sit through six books or more of you being a smartass, a prick to everybody (especially random strangers), and so on and so forth. It’s just an instant drop for me. Sure, your parents died, you are granted one or two books of being a whiny edgy teenager, six? That’s too much buddy. Especially if it’s not the modern world, or they have team mates that are full on adults. You still act like that with those team mates and living in the world you live in? Seriously?

These characters make even the cookie cutter or featureless MCs look good at least they don’t interfere with the story and you are along for the ride.

I’ve been trying to get into cradle, since everyone praises it to high heaven but then a certain Y named character just keeps poking at everyone and everything including me. It happens so frequently though, not just in cradle. If this person is recurring pov character I usually just skip until they are no more, then there are the main characters…

Tragic backstories are good if used correctly, ironically, the villains usually get this treatment with well done backstories. But when done incorrectly, it just brings up fatigue, yes I read and saw why you are behaving this way, but can’t you take a break? Be nice for one day (chapter) where you talk a lot please.
