Considering a 10a to replace my aging 5

My Pixel 5 is working, and I am supremely happy with it as a device. I've been using it for the better part of 4years now after buying it used online. Considering an upgrade for a couple reasons, primarily to work better with my Rivian as a "Phone as a Key" device, as well as to cure some small problems the 5 is having. Battery life on the 5 used to be a full day, now I'm down to maybe 3/4 day. I travel a lot, so if the outlet on the airplane isn't working I get precariously low by the end of the flight. I've also not been able to use 5G for several years, as I think the radio in the Pixel 5 isn't quite right. It looses connection somewhat regularly if on 5G; switch back to LTE and it's very reliable connection.

SO, I went looking for a new phone in the Pixel lineup. The 10a got my interest with it's lack of "camera bump" on the back, as well as generally appearing to be the same size/shape/weight as my current Pixel 5.

Comparing specs, they're nearly identical in terms of camera, screen, and overall form factor. The 10a has more storage, more processing power, and generally better hardware, or at least newer hardware if not better.

My curiosity though is if it's truly better to use. Does the new software "eat up" the performance benefit of the new hardware? My Pixel 5 is still VERY snappy to use and I get frustrated quickly at "laggy" devices. My wife had a Pixel 7a (might have been a 6a) that didn't feel great to use in hand. It had an obvious and frequent lag to moving between apps and multitasking. Might be her usage patterns and apps, might have been the phone.

Anyone have any input on making the switch from a 5 to a 10a?!?!
