Refresher Course Pool Toys
Hey all,
I'm a PADI divemaster and have been one for the past 6 years, actively working at a shop with a pool. This sounds like a silly question (because it is!), but I am taking 2 of my PADI OW-certified friends into the pool for a Refresher before their upcoming trip, and they jokingly mentioned wanting to play UNO underwater with those waterproof cards after we finish the Refresher. It got me thinking, what other small toys and such do people have for classes or refreshers similar to this? I'd usually throw around a small torpedo toy and play underwater catch with people to help them feel comfortable in their scuba gear, as well as helping them work on their swimming and buoyancy at the very end of a pool class. I want to emphasize the part of this being done only in a confined environment, as safety is a very crucial aspect of my instruction as a divemaster. I've seen others use those small sinking hoops and such, but I want to know if anyone else has found any fun alternatives to this that I can potentially implement into future pool sessions that don't require divers to do anything that could leave the impression of absolute freedom, come actual open water dives.
(I'm also completely all ears to hearing silly stories within the same realm because what's a diver without an outrageous story?! haha)
