Hey, sorry if this is the wrong place, but I’m really scared and no one I know has been in this kind of situation.

I have a history of preterm birth at 36+3 after my water breaking spontaneous at 36+2. I had a lot of Braxton hicks in that pregnancy, and had a last measurement of cervix at 33+6 to 25,7 mm. My cervix was never considered short in that pregnancy.

I have had several cervix checks this pregnancy because of a lot of Braxton hicks (despite rest) and the former preterm birth. My first was at 20 weeks where it measured 36 mm, then the same at 24 and 26, then suddenly 44 mm at checks between week 29-31, measured by three different people.

Yesterday at 33+4 I had my last check (since they don’t intervene or give medicin in my country at 34+0 weeks). Yesterday the measurement was 30 mm, and even though I know the cutoff is 25 mm, which the doctor also said, she did react to the fast change of 14 mm in length.

First she said that she thought the last measurement at 31 weeks must have been wrong because she thought it was almost unrealistically long, but as I said it had been measured by three different people.

She said I shouldn’t expect to go to term, asked me to take it easy till I reach 34+0 weeks, and that the Braxton hicks where having an effect on my cervix.

I am just so sad and confused right now, I really hoped to go to 37 weeks (all babies born before has mandatory nicu time here), and now I am really scared to give birth within the next two weeks. What scares me is also, that the baby might need cpap (our first needed it for 4 days, because of lack of oxygen under birth, and he was in a rough shape), so they need to leave the room with the baby before I am ready to go with.

I have really tanken it easy because of the Braxton hicks, and since yesterday I have mostly laid in bed, and I haven’t lifted my 1,5 year old.

Will someone share their thoughts on my situation? I know the baby will be fine longterm at this gestation, but I really don’t want to give birth before at least 36 weeks.

What do you think is the best course of action for me? Would you be worried about a 14 mm drop in length in two weeks?
