Long-time player (almost 2,000 hrs). I picked up an old expedition save, although I don’t remember which expedition. I have been running frigate missions for quite some time on this save, and have never gotten an Industrial mission. Have been doing 5 frigate missions/day for almost a month (25 days), so better than 125 separate missions and none have been Industrial.
For the “daily 5” missions, it’s almost invariably 3 Exploration, 1 or 2 balanced, and usually 1 Trade. Very occasionally 1 Combat instead of Trade. I’ve been at this save long enough that almost all my frigates have leveled up from C class to A or S.
Even if the RNG isn’t being kind, the chance of 0 Industrial missions in 125+ missions is vanishingly small. I don’t know the base percentages for each kind of mission, so I can’t calculate it directly, but assuming equal chances for each type of mission (industrial, trade, exploration, combat, balanced), the chance of zero industrial missions in 5 random missions would be around 0.328 and for that to happen for 25 days would be 0.328^125, or 0.0000000000008 or less than 1 in a trillion.
Even if NMS uses different logic for assigning missions, this seems like a bug to me. Has anyone else experienced this recently?
