Anaga Park Tenerife
From jungle like forests to cactus landscapes looking like the south west of the USA to the beautiful coast. Thank you Anaga for this beautiful hike (PR-TF10)
„Snow and ice conditions“
I hiked on 4th may to the top of Teide over PNT 23-09-10 (south-west). At the beginning of the trail two rangers checked our permits and if we have winter boots and crampons. I also think they checked if we have ice axes but the axes were looking outside of the bag so it was obviously.
To get to the point: there was no snow at all and if I have used crampons (the sharp and big ones, not spikes) they’ll get broken because they are made for ice and not for 2 snowflakes laying on the way up. I don’t understand why they keep the winter restrictions. I have been in Austria on mountains of this height and there you have to walk on glaciers to get to the top. There was nobody to check if you have crampons or even an insurance.
For the ones hiking up: 1700 height meters, very little switchbacks and very windy at the top. We got up and down in 12h (including pauses and photo-stops). It’s not a technical but a strenuous hike.
