Stunned by inability to understand real speech
So I understand podcasts and news and teachers and despite a large vocab I just don't understand native speakers.
I even have a higher vocabulary than my kids and can easily out read them. I just don't understand them when they talk with their friends.
No, it's nothing to do with slang or speed or slurring. I understand at least 95% of the words. I just can't form coherent messages out of the words. I require pity from a native speaker to adapt what they are saying for me to understand. For this reason I've never progressed beyond A2.
How did you proceed in this situation?
