Hi,

I'm currently on an unpaid leave of absence and staying outside of the US for health reasons but have a valid H-1B that expires in December this year. I'm planning to re-enter the US for a few days/weeks so that my employer can apply for an H-1B extension while I'm in the US to avoid triggering the $100k fee and once the petition is submitted, I leave right after. Is this viable?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
