I’m 31 years old, and I am just now having the opportunity to start a 401k. My previous employer didn’t offer it at all, but my current one does. My employer will match my contribution up to 6%. My question is: which is better- pre-tax or Roth? And why? I picked 1% for each one for now (I can’t afford to do a full 6% yet but I’m working on that), but I can change that at any time (with the exception of black out dates).
