Casual vs Droids
Well well. I started playing Legion with a friend and over the last months we managed to play 3 games. I chose the galactic imperium as my starting faction and his is droids. We played our 3rd game today and i am at a point where it is absolutely no fun already... he plays a b1 heavy list with aqua droids, crabs, an aat, magna guards, tactical droids and grievious. I try models out and play vader with a bunch of stuff i just bought and painted. I tried dewbacks, stormtroopers, snowtroopers, atst and today moff with darktroopers.
Every game i get my ass handled. Droids seem so utterly broken with all they got going on. All their units perform way over the points they cost, they have ton of good synergy, armor, token spam, impact against your armor...
He just spams insane order chains i cant break while moving in with all those armored, line of sight blocking units that i cant really damage. Followed by a grievious who can absolutely shred my lines with his 1 pip and occasionally overruns me with his huge dice pool. You cant bring armor against him since his aat and crabs just shred you anyways with impact, his magnas can easily stop vader and since he has perfect order control i cant make good outplays or position myself, since my imperium totally sucks at giving orders and gets outactivated. He can always activate when he wants to outplay my stuff while i am at the mercy of the order bag. I just bought dark troopers and painted them and was so pumped to try them out, only to get them as my first random activation out the bag, i shuffled them back with my special card and just drew them again. I placed them behind the first best los blocking house just to get sniped by the aat bcs he was able to see like 3 mm of my base.
What am i supposed to play vs this as imperium? He has millions of surge, aim and dodge tokens every turn with full armored los blocking frontlines that just walk in blindly. Good movement, his units cant get supressed... man i could go on but its late. Please give me tips how you are supposed to play against this and have fun at the same time in a casual way? Droids are just busted, or atleast feel so toxic in a casual environment.
