My TNR cat gave birth, update

Thanks everyone for your comments on my post about my TNR cat Oolong giving birth! I can't believe this happened to me, but it makes me feel less crazy that everyone else is also baffled. It's been a wild experience, but Oolong is being a great mommy to her seven little worms! Their names are Matcha, Tortellini, Stack, Smoke, Pearline, Rocket, and Earl Grey (We were watching Sinners while Oolong gave birth to the first four, unbeknownst to us). They are 16 days old!

So the CDS decided that wasn't enough, and Sylvia, who I've been trying to TNR for 9 months, decided today was the day to show her kittens where to get their meals! I guess she is done nursing! I had no idea she had kittens, I thought she looked pregnant but didn't know she actually went off and gave birth😑. I think they are about 8 weeks old. I caught one, but there are at least four little criminals at large.

The plan is to use the black bebe to catch the others and hopefully Sylvia, and maybe even their dad, Leonidas. I have been in touch with a TNR group for help. I'm hoping to socialize these guys so they won't be TNR babies, and they can be adopted.

TLDR there are ten cats in my house and more incoming. I also included the picture of Oolong in my ceiling fan, refusing to go to the vet 🙄🤬. I'll definitely update when I get her actually spayed, so we can see how on earth this all happened.

I moved into a house last year and discovered there were a lot of community cats in the area. I trapped a little black cat in my front yard in October and took her to a local animal hospital with a feral cat program. They told me she was "semi-feral" but already fixed, which they determined from finding a tattoo and a scar. They gave her vaccines and clipped her ear and I got to bring her home, and named her Oolong.

I decided to try and adapt her to indoor life, since she's so cute and I love her and I'm crazy. She's been doing well, playing with my other cat and warming up to me. Then out of nowhere in February she saw a chance to escape and took it. She came by for food everyday but it took about a week to get her back inside. I thought, "Well, at least she can't be pregnant!"

Then she started to get round. I thought it could be worms, or a growth. Or she's getting fat. I tried to take her to the vet, but she violently declined to get in a crate by relocating herself to my ceiling fan. Finally it became extremely clear that she was pregnant, and she gave birth on April 26 in my closet.

She's been a great mom to seven little ones, they are almost a week old and doing really well. She's not keen on me getting too close, but I have been able to check them over and get weights on everyone.

While I'm thrilled to have 7 adorable kittens, I am flabbergasted that this happened. I did everything I could to prevent this outcome, and somehow she still got pregnant. I will figure out a way to get her to a vet and desexed once the kittens are weaned, and I'm glad she had them inside where she can be safe and warm.

I'm very curious to hear if anyone else has had this happen to a TNR cat? Everyone I've talked to can't believe it.
