Without looking at any reeving diagrams (this is a shawbox 800 series for context), a competent crane tech please tell me why this is wrong? And how when you are on a job, you prevent things like this from happening?

(I know my methods, definitely involve some checks that whoever put this rope on was not competent to perform or too stupid to care)

This is the epitome of "yea our maintenance guys do our rope changes, we just have yall here for inspections"

anybody else ever experience these Magnetek Duo remotes just randomly going bad?

apparently at this place they go thru them like wild fire.

some will work for a year and others will work for a week - then they have to take another Duo and pair it to the reciever.

Got to love when the "salesmen" is also the project manager...so there you are begging the crane operator to help you out on site, if not...you and your buddy are carrying that 1 ton and extra long chain up 4 flights of stairs and thru a whole lot of bs.

But regardless - shout-out to this crane operator today 🤟
