This thought of mine just occurred to me as im taking the subway back home so dont go ape sh*t if a question like this has been asked numerous times and I think you know where it might be heading to.

What truly gets the attention of renowned animation studio to adapt certain mangas? I already know one of them is “popularity.” or “copies of the mangas thats been sold.” but ive seen some—for a lack of a better word—underground animes that can definitely leave some people to question “how.” and “why.” does this show have such good animation, it either doesnt fit the requirements at all or just some other unexplainable reason. Would it not be smart to adapt a more famous and viewed anime, like OPM? Im aware of the licensing issues that can come when wanting to run a show but cmon thats just petty. I want to know some thoughts about this or maybe even a explanation.
