[Theory] The Primus, Aman'Thul, and the Ordering of Death.
Okay, hear me out! I promise I’m not going crazy, but I think the pieces for the Primus's true identity and his "mysterious ally" finally just clicked into place. I've been obsessing over this for a while, and with the new Legend of Elun'Ahir book from TWW, the puzzle is complete.
In an interview with SA Gamer, Steve Danuser mentioned that the Primus became a master strategist by seeking out an ally who could show him the infinite timeways. For a long time, I thought this might be a rogue Bronze Dragon or Murozond. But that doesn't fit the scale of an Eternal One.
Who actually gave the Bronze Flight their power? Aman’Thul. Time magic in WoW is a subset of Arcane magic, which Chronicle explicitly links to Order. It makes perfect sense that the Highfather of the Pantheon would be the one to show the Primus how to "sim" every possible battle across eons and I will try to explain why:
"Too Ordered"
Remember that line from Sylvanas in the Maw? She looks around and says the truth of death is "too convenient. Too ordered." At the time, we thought she was just being cynical. But look at Oribos. Look at the Arbiter. Look at the Path. Everything in the Shadowlands functions like a rigid, bureaucratic machine. This isn't "Natural Death"... this is Ordered Death. But that can't be true, right? Aman'thul wouldn't go this far... Except he definitely would:
The Legend of Elun'Ahir and Aman’Thul’s Obsession
The in-game book, The Legend of Elun'Ahir from TWW, gives us a massive clue about Aman’Thul’s personality. When Eonar planted a World Tree (Life), Aman’Thul literally ripped it out of the ground because he couldn't stand "uncontrolled chaos." (I strongly recomend anyone who hasn't looked into this book to take a look at it)
If Aman’Thul saw the Shadowlands in its "wild," original state, he would have hated it. He would have wanted to impose a system. The Primus is the perfect partner for this. Runes are a language of structure and power, much like the Titans' own technology.
My theory is:
The Primus—the master of runes (a language of structure) and the builder of Torghast—is the ultimate agent of the Pantheon of Order. Aman'Thul gave him the time-magic "cheats" to make sure the Shadowlands stayed in perfect timeline that served the Titans' cosmic design.
I also want to give a huge shout-out to Haajix and DiscordianKitty on YouTube. Their lore videos were the spark for this entire theory, and honestly, I wouldn't have been able to come up with this post without their content. Definitely check them out if you love deep-diving into this stuff!
