My wife 37F (Canadian citizen) and I 31M (British Citizen) are in the process of moving to BC hopefully 2027 - pending visa). We are both teachers in the UK. I have been a teacher for 3 years, my wife for 12 years, but all in the UK. However, my wife trained at UBC.

She is much higher up the pay-scale. It would be quite frustrating to have to start at the bottom. Does anyone know how we might go about transferring over this experience to ensure we don't start at the bottom of the pay-scale?

From our research so far, we have gathered that we would have to begin at TTOC teachers and build up experience before applying for temporary positions. Once we apply for those or permanent positions, how much negotiation is possible in terms of salary?

We'd appreciate any advice in terms of becoming teachers in BC. Thanks in advance!
