Hi, I’m at a newbie. Where can I start with conventions or anime events in general?
I am 16 years old and right now is a scholar in Singapore
I always have great interest in anime or 2D style films or games in general, and has always wished to go to a con, fes or market one to experience, buy goods and do things like people going to those events would do
I have a friend who have some experiences in this( though not that much) and I did go to a kind of small hsr pop-up store and that’s all I have ever experienced about this kind of culture. We later planned to go to another event which is called dojima market . However, due to being inexperienced, we forgot to book the tickets since we thought we can buy it offline and ended up missing the event.
I really want to go to anime events or conventions or sth like that, which the main purpose of experiencing and buying goods of course but also I want to meet new people, making friends or talking with people that share the same interests, especially cosplayers or goods hunters that I have always admired online.
Nevertheless, for some reason or maybe I’m just dumb, I often struggle to find info about these types of events or have a consistent source to know the schedule and ended up missing most of the cons and only know about it through my friends people I know.
I’m not sure if I’m an introvert or not, but when I came across any cosplayers, I always wanted to gi ask for a picture(out of admiration) but yet can’t due to feeling embarrassed or my body just freezing and the only times I could take was because of my friend asked that for me though I knew I had to open up but my dumdums brain just malfunctioned under anxiety
I also try to find and join groups or communities related to anime events, but since I’m a scholar, I often dont really have that much time to be committed like other people, and I also feel like it would be a burden and unpleasant if I’m in a group and ended up not going to most of the events due to study work or out of budget:(
Is there any consistent or reliable sources to keep track with these kinds of events and any tips on going alone or knowing what kind of cons that cater for limited budget?
