So I 21 f and my 29 m husband have been living with my grandparents in sc. so to the story they wanted me to get a job immediately when we came out here (reasonably no problem) so we get jobs then like 2 months in they start complaining about a car well can’t do that cus we barely make money oh well. Then about a year and a half later (Ik Ik don’t come for me) we get a truck. Ford f150 1998 we love the truck of course. So when we get this truck, we pay about $800 for her in total we had about 1200. So we pay for the truck we get the truck. She does have a couple of things wrong with her but nothing major major. so I am working at a different place at this where I was a server and I was only making 2.50 but I was making OK tips so it was like OK. So then maybe like a year working there a little under a year I quit but before that I was working as a shift manager and they bumped me up to $10 an hour, but I wasn’t barely making any money out of my checks because I paid child support now keep that in the back of your mind that’s from a different situation. So my grandparents are on me on me on me about everything they’re upset because when my mom passed away, she had left all these cats because my grandma and her both cat hoarders that’s another thing to keep in mind. So when that happened, my grandma started to go down the deep end and she started to get really sick again because she had nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. So maybe like a year after that she gets hospitalized two days after Christmas in 2025 she got hospitalized so she was in the hospital for maybe about two weeks when they told her she’s gonna go on hospice care. So she goes on hospice care. She’s in there for about a month almost 2 maybe but in the span time she wanted to talk to her sister, but the thing that I didn’t know was if my grandpa owed the sister money, which is my great aunts for cat food and it was $400 worth. So he’s freaking out because my grandma wants to her iPad and her glasses to talk to her sister. She said she wants to play a movie so that’s what I said. She want to play a movie and play our games and he is insistent on she is gonna talk to her sister. She’s gonna talk to her sister so he is freaking out and we get into a little bit of a back-and-forth and I’m like hey she’s a grown woman and she is in hospice you need to give her her iPad in her class so she can have a little bit of time of peace before she leaves you know. So it’s a big thing maybe like six hours later I’d say 1 o’clock in the morning I get a call. My grandpa is in the hospital. He had another stroke. This will be his second stroke that he’s had. They don’t know if he he’s OK he had bleeding on the brain and he was pretty much paralyzed from the other half of his body is right side. We go up there we’re all like what the heck what the heck we take care of this whole situation he gets out of the hospital and he is now in a rehab rehabilitation center that he chose. I try to get him to choose a five star he chose a three star because it was closer and I told him hey we will travel to the five star. It’s OK no no no he wants what he wants. He’s very very specific on what he wants. So I let him do what he wants. He’s a grown man he should be able to do as he wants so after that, he gets to this place and he’s there for maybe like a week and he’s already freaking out. He don’t like this place he don’t like this place. And I’m like you were the one that chose this place. I can’t do anything about it if you want to change the place then you’re gonna have to change it. So he stayed there. He’s been there for about three months as of today today’s present day. He’s got six months left. Well, about two months ago, he decided he was going to take my aunt who does not like me and my husband for some odd reason and make her the power of attorney. That keep in mind me and my sister and my husband live with my grandparents and my sister is a minor. She turns 18 December but she’s still under age as of right now. So we’re like OK and she’s trying to control everything that we’ve got going on at the house and she’s telling us that we’re not allowed to get rid of any of the cats that we have 20+ cats of we’re not allowed to do nothing with the dogs, which we had like six dogs seven dogs, but I had to give forced a pound because I could not afford the food anymore and I feel so bad for doing that but I could not afford it. Then she tells my grandpa that it’s time that we start paying the electric and water bill because he’s not here even though we’re struggling to get jobs because we’re in between jobs because of the economy we’re in right now and how hard it is to get a job in South Carolina and we are now the main caretakers of my sister is taking her back back-and-forth to school making sure she gets back back-and-forth to her after school things making sure she gets to school on time making sure her clothes get washed, making sure she gets fed to keep food in the house and all that good stuff and now on top of that we have to make sure the water in the electric stay on. So boom boom we’re like whatever we start paying electric. We start pan water and then we’re like we can’t pay electric and we can’t pay water so we ask my grandpa he pays electric. He pays water but keep in mind. All of these animals are not ours. I have maybe four cats and I have one dog so I’m like OK. I need help with the animal food and he start freaking out and my aunt and now he’s like I need to get rid of these animals. I need to get rid of these animals like not him not my aunt because she’s power of attorney and she’s supposed to be helping him with all these difficult thing I need to get rid of them. Now we cut to the electric the electric in our house is going out the breaker box will sit there and try to spark itself. Sometimes we kind of fix the problem, but we found out that there is a bunch of wires crossed in the ceiling to places that it shouldn’t be so we talked to somebody and we think that if a electrician wasn’t able to come out, they would probably tell us that we can’t even do anything about it because they would have to fix those wires in the house in the way they set up. It would be way more out of our price range than we could ever think of. So we tell our grandpa and he’s all upset. He’s all irritated that we need to figure it out because it’s costing him a lot of money in electric so now we cut to yeah giving over $500 to the church whenever he knows that we are in such a struggle that we can’t even feed ourselves at this point and he thinks the only way to make that better is to take us out to a fast food restaurant instead of actually going to the store and putting food in the fridge he’ll take us to a fast food restaurant like OK I don’t understand how that logic works but Ok. So now we’re here at the point of my aunt is supposed to be the power of attorney and he needs his phone bill paid, but it is so hard to be able to get him in and out of my car because he’s supposed to be able to “start walking“ but the nurses aren’t whatever they’re doing. I don’t know his physical therapist that he can, but the nurses are telling him he’s not supposed to be doing it by himself yet and he makes it so difficult to get him into the car and like I said, we have a truck which is a little higher off the ground and we have to pick him up to put him in and he gives us a difficult time every time he does it so I told him that I could go up there and I could pay his phone bill for him on the Internet on his app through his phone cause he had a phone like mine and it’s an iPhone so it’s easy to pay the phone bill through and he’s like no he wants to go up to the store cause we’re not gonna be able to pay it on the phone and then he’s like no so I’ve been not been up there for like three days I think because I feel like I need some time to myself and I feel like I’ve been giving all my energy and time to him, and he has not been dedicating anything back to me except for taking me out to eat on occasion to a fast food restaurant and paid the electric once and paid the water once since he’s been in the hospital, but the electric and water is still in my grandparents names. So that brings me down to am I the asshole for trying to put myself in my family first before him because I’ve put him first so many times already and it’s gotten us nowhere.
