Walked out of my tattoo appointment
Walked out of my tattoo
I went in for a tattoo consultation and ended up walking out.
I had created an armband-style design from Pinterest with a series of caricatures. The issue was that the original reference wasn’t properly aligned or spaced, so I actually spent time putting together a version and sent it to the tattoo parlour beforehand, asking if they could help adjust the spacing and make it flow correctly around my arm.
When I got there, the artist showed me some reference images that didn’t really match what I was going for. I wasn’t feeling confident in those, so I showed him my version again. At that point, it felt like he just defaulted to using my Pinterest reference instead of refining it or building on it.
Things started to feel rushed. He printed the stencil without really discussing placement properly or taking proper measurements on my arm. When I asked about lining it up and ensuring the spacing would wrap correctly, he basically said he could “just fill in the gaps.”
That didn’t sit right with me. This is something that would be permanent on my body, and I didn’t feel like enough care was being taken with the design or placement.
So I made the call to walk away.
I feel a bit bad and anxious about the whole ordeal 😅
Edit: To my fellow anxious ppl reading this, you can always say no and walk away if it doesn’t sit right with you :) ty for all the kind words!
