Hello explorers. #72 here with a quick preface; this is all light hearted, at the end of the day I love the game and I support the devs and the community, this just my opinion, shared for the sakes of fun and community connection, please don't take things too seriously:
Now I know I'm a bit late, but I tried the game today and let me just say I've had probably 70+ hours in the first game and absolutely loved every single terrifying second of it, but more on that in a bit. I'm not going to comment on how laggy it is on MQ3, I know it's an issue that's been complained and complained, and I know it'll be fixed at some point. No I'm here just giving my two cents on the gameplay compared to the first game. Well really I have just one criticism; it's just not snappy enough. All the animations for grabbing things both directly and remotely(the trigger pull I mean, not sure what else to call it) definitely do look neat, very polished compared to the way that the first game worked. But to me, it adds so much friction in everything, I think that if one of the points is absolute immersion, then having everything react slower than yourself kind of breaks it every time; in real life, when you grab something, you don't watch yourself grab it to admire the way this beautiful reality works, you just.. grab it, and the first game did it very well. Id grab a magazine from my pouch and instantly it was in my hand. I'm not sure if that too was an animation and just much quicker but the point really shouldn't be to know; if you're in the middle of a firefight, for example, you're not paying attention to the magazine going into your hand, you're trying to have a magazine in your hand as quickly as possible, just like real life. the moment you squeeze it, it's there, just like how the first game felt like the very moment I squeeze my grip the thing is in my hands and I can do whatever needs done; reload, move it out the way, put an empty mag somewhere, etc etc.
Maybe it's just a learning curve, and I do think I'll get used to it, probably will help heaps when the quest version gets more optimized and can target more than 30 frames too lol. overall tldr: love the game, truly rebirths that terror of the unknown and that sense of discovery yada yada, all the things. I'm so excited, it'd just be nice if things were snappier though.
If a dev is reading this, I'm not insulting at all, maybe I'm just missing a nuance and this is the whole point, and that's why I'm bringing it to discussion I'd love to hear the rest of the communities' consensus, and I think you guys are doing immaculate work
